October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month--Save a LIFE!

Most of us have known someone who has been afflicted with cancer. The word "cancer" causes people to become overwhelmed with anxiety and fear of the unknown. Look up cancer on the website and you will find many articles explaining the mutation of cells that lead to this disease. Still, there is no current cure-all or vaccine for breast cancer or any other cancer to date. Breast cancer will strike one out of eight women being the most common cancer in women in the United States. The good news is that breast cancer deaths have declined over the years, but it is still the leading cause of death among women overall. It is no wonder we take the month of October to inform the population about breast cancer, signs and symptoms, how to perform self-breast examinations, get mammograms and ways we can reduce our risk for being cancer victims.

The risk for breast cancer goes up with age and the average age for diagnosis is age 61.

Being touched with cancer in my family and a recent personal scare, I know how important every day can be with a loved one. So, this year, take time out to encourage someone, even if it is yourself, to get a mammogram, learn how to live a healthier lifestyle and do breast self-examination. For more information on breast self examination, mammograms and healthier living, visit: www.breastcancer.org.

My company, Onkort Sports supports breast cancer awareness. Each year, I design a custom Pickleball tee for breast cancer awareness and donate $5.00 from each sale to breast cancer research. Help me make a difference this year and purchase a Pickleball or generic breast cancer tee, if you prefer. Let's make others aware so that we can all support those who are facing this disease, those who have survived and honor those we have lost. Tell you friends and relatives about our offer and help us raise the bar to donate a significant portion of our sales to this worthy cause. To see our custom designs, go to www.onkortsports.com and check out our breast cancer apparel under "Specials".
